Father’s Day

Even though you have ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel.
1 Corinthians 4:15

What is the difference between guardians and fathers?
Guardians keep the rules. They let everyone know what they think is right. They carry a stick. They are aloof.
Fathers, on the other hand, fix bikes. They live sacrificially so their children can have fun, love life and learn to become responsible citizens.
So who are your spiritual children?

Our Neighbour’s Horse

Our neighbour has a home business. He competes with pickup trucks to haul freight around town with his horse and cart. In the evening he brings his horse to our place. I was waiting for him the other morning around sunrise, and snapped a few photos as he headed off to work.
I know my dad remembers working the fields with horses when he was a boy. There are probably a few others who are reading this email who remember the one horsepower days as well. Or possibly four horsepower? Or six?

Baby Mangos

Bella took some photos of our mango tree this week.
This first picture shows the whole tree, covered with blossoms. The photo story progresses until the last photo, which shows some baby mangos springing out of the blossoms.
By Christmas the ground will be thick with “mango mud.” Thick.

Grass Fire

We had a grass fire yesterday. I don’t know how it started, but I know how it ended. Emma and Bella saw it from the house and they came out with some buckets and rags. The neighbour kids pitched in to beat it out. We are very grateful for our tractor which helps us keeps the grass cut.
