Road Trip to Altamira

The church in Marabá sent a group of 29 or so leaders and trainees to a conference in Altamira. To get there they had to travel 300 miles of the Trans-Amazon Highway. The 20-plus hour adventure each way included waiting at the bar alongside the road for many hours, getting pulled through some holes, pushing the bus through other places. Olivia fell in up to her thigh in one place.

Olivia fell into the mud up to her thigh.

Monica tried hard to be sad about all the difficulties, but was unsuccessful.

Lots of snacks at roadside bars.

Some places they got pulled through with a Cat. Sometimes the wheels of the vehicles would not touch the bottom of mud holes, but would float along the top of the mud on their undercarriages.

  1. I didn’t know those were Via’s legs, wow.
Monica’s expression is priceless, I noticed it right away, good sense of humor.

What an incredible road, or should I say, non-road.mom
